The Golden Thread for the New O Canada? Martin Short of Course.

Well the speculation is over. Martin Short, star of film and comedy mainstays SNL and SCTV, will serve as the narrator of the new O Canada film at Epcot.

Disneyland and Pepsi

Two things I really like are Classic Disney and soda. Usually in that order. This commercial merges memories of both of these passions. Two young folks, obviously in love, wander around 1960's Disneyland.

It's Big Bubble Blowin' Time! - Fantastic Four Bubblegum

I am on a bit of a gum kick so I thought I would stay on topic for the site. Here is an another interesting a Amurol-made artifact from 1983, Fantastic Four Gum.

My toy evolution went something like this: Star Wars — GI Joe — Transformers — GI Joe — Star Wars. Of course it all starts and end with Star Wars, but the meat of my playtime were those magical robo-shape changers, The Transformers.

Pepsi Commercials of the 1980s

In the 1980s the Cola War was raging. Coke was on the defense and Pepsi pulled in a bevy of A-Listers to remind you to drink Pepsi. After all Pepsi was the Choice of a New Generation and who better to represent the new generation then Madonna, Michael J. Fox and Don Johnson?

TSR's Star Frontiers - Join the Galactic Legions

My TSR catalog post went over so well last week that I thought I would post a great Star Frontiers ad from 1982. The ad features 2 humans and one of my favorite in-game races the Yazirians. They had the best attributes of both bats and Wookies (yeah, go figure).

Original Flintstone's Opening Sequence

I love alternate openings to TV shows. Especially with shows, to which, I am well acquainted. This is was what you saw when you tuned into "The Flintstones" during it first 2 seasons (1960-1962).

The Joker Milk Dud Contest

How often do you see a contest run by the villain of the comic? It seems like such a great idea that needs to be imitated (hear me batman sequel).

Let Mr. Spock Clean Your Laundry

What a different age this commercial was shot in, but it testifies to the popularity of Trek even back in the day. You know what would be cool? If this commercial was pre-Star Trek. At the end of every episode they would have to put -- Mr.

1980 TSR Catalog

I was going through the boxes the other day, taking inventory and dreaming of playing, when I found this old catalog. Its the sum of what the grand-daddy of role playing, TSR, had to offer in 1980 and it needed to be shared.

A warm summer day at the Jersey Shore. The Retroist and his girlfriend Tanya Roberts are frolicking. The Retroist is wearing a one piece and Tanya is dressed like Kiri in "The Beastmaster".

For the glue impaired Snap Tite models were a gift from the gods. Easy to put together and fun to play with they made Mom happy because you never glued your hands to your Mother's favorite carpet.
